Pakistan women’s football wins most-ever match
On Tuesday, the Pakistani women’s football team won 7-0 against the Maldives to end the SAFF Women’s Cup on a high note. This was their biggest win ever. When Nadia Khan scored four goals, she was the first Pakistani player in women’s international football history to do so. In the 39th minute, young Pakistani forward Rameen Fareed gave his team the lead with a goal from 25 yards out.
In the 48th minute, Khadija Kazmi scored on a penalty kick to give Pakistan a two-goal lead. Then it was Nadia’s turn to show what she could do. The Pakistani player, who lives in the UK right now, completely blew away the other players with her great control and four quick goals. She scored a hat trick in the 53rd and 78th minutes and in the 84th and 89th minutes for a total of four goals.
With her historic four goals, she joined Hajra Khan and Malika e Noor as the only Pakistani women to have scored more than twenty goals in their international careers. Anmol Heera of Pakistan scored again in extra time, making the final score 7-0.
This win is the last step in Pakistan’s successful run at the SAFF Women’s Cup in 2022. They could not make it to the semi-finals because they lost to Bangladesh and India earlier in the tournament. Pakistan hasn’t taken part in a major international game since 2014.
