Pakistan U19 defeated Afghanistan by 83 runs in a one-sided Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under19s Asia Cup match at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Tuesday. Afghanistan was out early, losing four wickets for 60 runs in 13 overs. Numan Shah led the struggling Afghan team with 54 runs, but Ubaid’s magic hit him too. Afghanistan’s lower order came through as skipper Naseer Khan Maroofkhil scored 26 and Faridoon Dawoodzai scored – runs, but not enough to win. Afghanistan lost 220 runs in 48.4 overs. First-innings Pakistan scored 303 runs thanks to Shamyl Hussain, Shahzaib Khan, and Riaz Ullah.
Shamyl and Shahzaib opened the innings and gave Pakistan a great start, scoring 115 runs before the former was bowled in the 17th over. Shamyl scored 75 runs off 54 balls with seven fours and five sixes at 138.88. Since Shahzaib took his time to settle, the 19-year-old’s rapid innings helped him. Shahzaib led Pakistan’s batting after Shamyl’s dismissal and scored 79 runs with 10 boundaries.
He was dismissed by Faridoon Dawoodzai in the 34th over. As few as four Pakistani batters scored in double figures. The Boys in Green looked set to settle for under 250 runs as wickets fell, but Riaz played a crucial 73-run innings. Cricket hero Azan Awais scored 20 runs against India.
