PAK VS NED | Shaheen Afridi out for two Pak-Ned matches
On Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi would not be playing in either of Pakistan’s next ODIs against the Netherlands. Therefore, the young pacer’s knee injury occurred in the Test match against Sri Lanka a month ago. Plus he is still recovering. Also, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has stated that the team’s youth has an opportunity to shine in Shaheen’s absence.
The first-ever bilateral series between the Netherlands and Pakistan will get off on Tuesday, August 16, in Rotterdam, with Babar leading the Pakistan ODI side. On August 18 and 21, Pakistan, rated #4, will play at home again. Also, as part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, the three-game series features a team currently ranked fifth with 90 points. Thus, the goal for Babar’s squad in these three games is to sweep the competition and move up to second place in the standings.
“Pakistan will be without the services of world number three ODI bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is not available for the first two games due to knee injury,” the PCB said.
