PAK VS ENG | NSK pitches ready for T20Is without Australian soil
The fields at the National Stadium (NSK) are almost ready for England to play there for the first time in 17 years. On Tuesday, England announced that from September 20 to October 2, they will play four Twenty20 Internationals at the National Stadium Karachi and three at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) started getting ready for the T20I series as soon as the news came out. From what we’ve heard, NSK’s pitch square is almost done, and the final touches will be made in the next few days. The idea of putting Australian soil on these surfaces has been put on hold because Australian pitch curator Darren Hough went to Pakistan.
People say that when Hough went to Pakistan’s four test centres (in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi) last month, he didn’t give “positive feedback” on the country’s efforts to make pitches like those in Australia. In this way, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host England and, most likely, the West Indies and New Zealand on pitches that are already ready. After almost 13 years, the PCB dug up pitch squares in Karachi and Lahore to make brand new pitches with rare Nandipur soil (a town near Gujranwala). In the future, seats will also be put up in the general stands at NSK. This project should be done by 2025, when Pakistan will host the important Champions Trophy.
