Squads for Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball series against Australia will be named sometime next week, but sources have indicated Mohammad Rizwan is in the frame to captain. Sources say that though the selection committee has the view that Rizwan should be assigned to lead the side, the final decision in regard to that will be made by the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, after having discussed it with the selectors and other officials as well.
On the other hand, the brawny fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain may also make a comeback, who has last played an ODI in 2023. Hasnain’s incandescent performance in the Champions Cup and President’s Cup recently impressed the selectors. His comeback would be very interesting.
All-rounder Aamir Jamal and wicketkeeper batsman Haseebullah are also in consideration to appear in the squad to play the white-ball series in Australia. The second ODI match will play on November 8 at Adelaide Oval; the third on November 10 at Perth Stadium.
The Green Shirts would face the Kangaroos in three T20 matches starting from November 14 and continuing till 18th of the same month, following the end of the ODI matches. While the first T20 will be held on November 14th at The Gabba in Brisbane, the second one will be on November 16th at SCG in Sydney and the third and last match will be on November 18th at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
This development comes days after Cricket Australia announced a 14-member squad for the three-match ODI series starting against Pakistan on November 4 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. With Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head ruled out for the series due to paternity leave, Pat Cummins returns to the side as captain, with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short as openers. Said the board on Monday.
