As he prepares to return to Al Hilal, Saudi Arabia’s top football team, after his injury, Neymar stated he “suffered every day” away from the pitch.

The 32-year-old footballer cried as he described being on the sidelines as his team topped the Saudi Pro League during his 12-month injury ordeal. In October 2023, the former Paris Saint-Germain player suffered a knee injury while on 2026 World Cup qualifying duties, forcing him to leave the Riyadh club after signing for two years.

Naymar, crying, told the NR Sports YouTube channel about his miraculous recovery: “I was in anguish. At that point, I knew it was serious. Playing football is my dream.

“I’ve suffered every day off the pitch. My worst pain is this. My family, friends, and football are my priorities. After every injury, I rose. I don’t return halfway.”

Neymar’s comments on the treatment table suggested that his time in the Middle East may be limited. Neymar is in Al Hilal’s AFC Champions League roster for Al Ain after returning to full training. Also, Neymar’s contract expires in summer 2025, but he can stay in Riyadh for another year.
