Ahead of the T20 World Cup, bowlers will be taking center-stage as the latest T20I Bowling Rankings update sees major changes: Pakistan’s Nashra Sundhu is one of the star performers. The 24-year-old, who picked up 2/20 in four overs, jumped six places to eighth in the rankings with 691 points.
That is not an isolated case, as many bowlers have performed well in series around the world in the lead-up to the World Cup, meriting a change in rankings: Australia’s Ash Gardner moved up six places to ninth, also receiving 682 points. Most notable was the journey to the top ten by Gardner, who suffered a minor setback as the victim of a freak accident during a warm-up session but came back strongly in the second match against New Zealand, taking 3/16 in just four overs.
Among other career-highs in the top 20 are New Zealand left-arm spinner Melie Kerr, who has jumped four places into the top 20 after turning in a brilliant 4/20; Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, who has burst into the top 20 for the first time, up five places to 19th position with 632 points, and South African fast bowler Tumi Sekhukhune eight places to 43rd following good performances in games against Pakistan.
