Naseem Shah, Islamabad United’s frontline pacer, revealed his delight with Riley Meredith and Matthew Short ahead of the 10th Pakistan Super League on Thursday.
Three-time champions received the last pick in the platinum category’s first round and signed top-order Australia hitter Short, who has extensive experience in the shortest format.
The United then selected right-arm developing pacer Riley Meredith in the Supplementary category, who is sought after in franchise leagues worldwide, including the cash-rich Indian Premier League.
“I’m really excited to see two players in particular joining Islamabad United this season: Riley Meredith and Matt Short,” Naseem said in a Tuesday statement.
I think Riley will light up the league with his pace and bounce. Fast bowling and rapid pace are popular among Pakistani fans, and Riley matches that,” Naseem said.
“What can I say? Thank goodness we won’t have to bowl to Short! He can quickly defeat any onslaught. He’s destructive, and I think he’ll adore playing at Rawalpindi, our home stadium.
