Mohammad Hasnain joins Worcestershire

Next month, promising Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain will play his maiden game for a county. Worcestershire signed the pacemaker for the final six County Championship games of 2022. The 22-year-old right-arm fast bowler has appeared in 26 internationals for Pakistan. He will make his debut on July 11 against Middlesex. Hasnain was already permitted to bowl in international cricket after the Big Bash League reported that he altered his bowling action. Since then, this is Hasnain’s second major contract with a foreign team.

The Hundreds had already rescued him from The Oval Invincible. Azhar Ali, a veteran batsman from the same country and a crucial part of Worcestershire County Cricket Club this season, concurred with the selection of the young fast bowler. Additionally, he stated that Hasnain’s ability to hurl a ball at 90 mph will provide Worcestershire with a boost as it strives for success in red-ball cricket.

Hasnain has only played in six first-class matches, but he has already taken 10 wickets. The quick bowler stated that playing in county championship matches would help him understand how to bowl in various situations.

Official Statements

“Azhar knows him very well and helped us do a bit of research. He spoke very, very highly of him as a young man and as a character and his skill set as well,” said Worcestershire’s Head coach Alex Gidman.

“Hugely exciting to have Muhammad join our squad for the last six games. We’ve played a patient game with the overseas players and tried to plot our way through the season.

“To have someone of his caliber joining us for the last six games is really exciting. He is going to be exactly what the group needs, some real power and energy.”

“He bowls very quick, so a different skill set to what we have, and he will hopefully give us a chance of winning more games,” the head coach of the county team said.

“I want to help Worcestershire win matches first and foremost, but I also want to play more first-class cricket, and this is an ideal opportunity and it will also be part of my cricketing education playing in England on different pitches,” Hasnain said.
