On Monday, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) announced that Australian cricketer Matthew Short had joined the 10th edition player draft. The league announced on social media with a banner and caption: “Australian explosive batter Matthew Short enters the HBL PSL Draft.”
Following 14 T20I matches for his country, the 29-year-old provides plenty of T20 expertise. In six matches, he has scored 293 runs at 163.68, including a half-century.
Short has played in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), The Hundred, Major League Cricket (MLC), and the Indian Premier League. In 82 BBL appearances, Short has scored 2,033 runs at 140.69, including 14 fifties and one century. He is now representing the Adelaide Strikers in this year’s BBL season.
For the first time, Balochistan will host the PSL 10 draft, and Short is the fourth Australian and 19th international player to register. Gwadar is planned to host the landmark event on January 11, 2025.
Two-time winners Lahore Qalandars pick first in the platinum category’s first round, followed by archrivals Karachi Kings. Quetta Gladiators, 2019 champions, will pick third and Peshawar Zalmi fourth.
