His entourage immediately described the report as a “slanderous rumour” and threatened legal action. Mbappe has sued the Qatari-owned French champions, claiming that they owe him $60 million.

The 2018 World Cup winner was not selected for France’s Nations League fixtures last week, and spent Thursday and Friday in the Swedish capital where he dined in a restaurant with a group of people. According to the report by Aftonbladet, the French footballer then went to a nightclub.

Aftonbladet said the complaint was filed after the alleged victim had visited a hospital, but it did not say who was the object of the accusation.

Swedish police refused to give any further information. The Swedish newspaper posted images on its website,Monday, of police officers outside the hotel where Mbappe and those present with him had been staying.

A source close to PSG said that the club would “ignore” Mbappe’s claim there was a link between the report in Sweden and his dispute with the club. Mbappe’s move to Madrid comes this summer after seven full seasons in the French capital with PSG.
