Kamran and Abrar dropped from first Test squad
Abrar Ahmed, a wrist spinner, will play for Pakistan Shaheens in the second four-day encounter against Bangladesh ‘A’ at the Islamabad Club on Tuesday, August 20. The selectors chose an all-pace attack for the inaugural ICC World Test Championship match against Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, August 21. He was placed in the Shaheens squad instead of benching him for the Test so he could train before the second Test in Karachi on 30 August.
Uncapped top-order hitter Kamran Ghulam, the other Pakistan Test player freed, will participate in the second four-day match for the Shaheens. He’s captain too. This reduces the Pakistan Test to 15 players, but Abrar and Kamran will rejoin the team for the Karachi visit after the second four-day match. Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saud Shakeel (Pakistan Shaheen) have entered the Test team, but Mohammad Rameez Jnr has been left out for the second four-day match. The Shaheens have replaced these eight players with Abrar Ahmed, Ali Zaryab Asif, Awais Anwar, Imam Ul Haq, Niaz Khan, Qasim Akram, Rohail Nazir, and Sharoon Siraj.
Pakistan Shaheens (second four-day): Kamran Ghulam (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Ali Zaryab, Ghulam Mudassar, Imam-ul-Haq, Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Awais Anwar, Niaz Khan, Qasim Akram, Rohail Nazir, Saad Baig, Sharoon Siraj, and Umar Amin.
