Jasprit Bumrah to lead India T20I Series

Jasprit Bumrah will lead India’s young 15-person team for the T20I series against Ireland. Bumrah will come back after almost a year. He had to miss the T20 Asia Cup in September 2022 because of a back issue that kept coming back.

He last played in India’s home T20I series against Australia. The pacer was not able to go to the T20 World Cup in Australia, which India crashed out of after losing to England in the semi-final. England went on to win the tournament.In March of this year, the 29-year-old had successful back surgery in New Zealand, and he is now getting better at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

He also played in a few practice games, and the NCA team, led by VVS Laxman, was happy with Bumrah’s recovery. This won’t be Bumrah’s first time as captain. He led the team in a single Test match in England last summer. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named Bumrah’s replacement, and fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who had been out with a spinal stress fracture, is back.
