The Pakistan hockey team didn’t make it to the final four for the first time in the Asian Champions Trophy. On Wednesday in Chennai, India beat them 4-0, and it was the first time they didn’t. Since the Asian Champions Trophy started, this is the first time that Men in Green didn’t finish in the top four. Pakistan, Japan, and Korea all had the same number of points, but Korea and Japan got to the semi-finals because they scored more goals than Pakistan and Japan.

Pakistan started the game off well and with a lot of energy, but just before the end of the first quarter, Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh scored to give his team the lead. At the start of the second quarter, India started to take control of the game. Soon after, the Indian captain scored another goal from a penalty corner to give his team a two-goal lead. India kept up its great play, and six minutes into the third quarter, Jugraj Singh scored another goal for the home team to make the lead three times as big.
India won the game 4–0, and Akashdeep Singh scored the last goal for India. Pakistan hasn’t beaten India in hockey since the 2016 South Asia Games. Since then, they have lost 16 straight games. In the event, the Green Shirts only won one out of their five games. Their first game in the event was against Malaysia, and they lost 3-1. The next two games they played, against Korea and Japan, they tied.
Pakistan’s only win in the event came against China, which ended up with only one point and was last in the standings. On August 11, Pakistan will play China in a match for fifth and sixth place. In the first semi-final on August 11, Malaysia will play Korea. In the second semi-final on the same day, India will play Japan.
