India beat Pakistan 6-0 to win the Davis Cup World Group I playoff match in doubles in Islamabad on Sunday. The men in blue won thanks to Saketh Myneni and Yuki Myneni beating Aqeel Khan and Muzammil Murtaza from the national team 3-0 with 6-2, 6(7), and 6(5).

Khan lost to Sriram Balaji in straight sets, 7-5 6-3, earlier on Saturday in the singles. Ramkumar Ramanathan beat Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi 6-7(3) 7-6(4) 6-0 to give his team a good start.
“Being in Pakistan, this will be a special win for me.” It’s not simple to win them over. When Aisam served, she slowed down the game. “It wasn’t easy, but I was really pumped up,” Ramanathan said after beating Aisam.
The last time these two countries played each other, it was in Kazakhstan in 2014, and India won 4-0. Aisam had said earlier, “The Indian team just getting to Pakistan is already a win for me.”
“I’m happy and proud to be a part of it — that tennis might play a role in mending the ties with India,” he said.
When asked about going to Pakistan, Indian captain Zeeshan Ali said it was “emotional” because his father was on the 1964 team.
“The last time India played against Pakistan 60 years ago my father was on the team and he played three of the matches which he won,” said Ali.
He added, “It’s an emotional moment for me to be back here in Pakistan as captain of the Indian team.” He hoped that the match would be good for tennis.
“If we can help in any way to spread good friendship and the game of tennis then we would have achieved our goal,” he said.
