Rohit Sharma employed all eight bowlers, including Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and himself, to take advantage of the massive total. Kohli bowled Dutch captain Scott Edwards for 17 runs in his second over. India will meet New Zealand in the first World Cup semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15.First-batting, India set Edwards’ men a 411-run target with a dominant performance.
All six Indian batters—except Suryakumar Yadav, who played one ball—performed well. As expected, India started well as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored 100 runs in 11.4 overs before Gill left for the pavilion and Sharma continued to assault. Kohli batted after Gill for his record 50th ODI century. The 34-year-old reached 50 before Roelof van der Merwe bowled him for 51.
Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul took over when Kohli left India at 200-3 in 28.4 overs and formed an amazing 208-run partnership to help India collect 410 runs, the second-highest total of this World Cup. Iyer was well put on the wicket when Rahul came to bat, so he played attacking cricket and reached his well-deserved century. KL Rahul started slowly, earning 50 runs on 40 balls, but then powered to his century on 62 balls, scoring the last 50 runs in 22 balls. Iyer survived 128 off 94 balls while Rahul fell after 102 off 64.
