Imad Wasim’s retirement shocks everyone
Wasim’s November 24 professional decision to stop his eight-year association with the national team surprised the 31-year-old sportsman.
“My brother, @simadwasim, your retirement surprised me. “I believe you have many years left to excel in international cricket for Pakistan,” Rizwan posted on X, formerly Twitter.
He also wished the all-rounder success in life. Wishing his fellow cricketer well, he commented “Keep shining bright!” His message included a photo of the cricketer in the team’s uniform. Imad, 34, who hasn’t played for the Green Shirts in months, decided it was time to retire.
“In recent days I’ve been thinking about my international career and I’ve decided it’s time to retire from international cricket.”
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also recognized for its years of support. It’s been a privilege to represent Pakistan. Wasim said his 121 ODI and T20I appearances were dreams come true. In light of the huge coaching changes in Pakistan cricket, he stated it’s an exciting time for the team.
“I wish all involved every success and I look forward to watching the team excel,” he stated.
He hailed Pakistani fans for their “such passion” and support. He remarked, “A final thank you to my family and friends who have been so important in helping me achieve at the highest level.”
“I now look forward to focusing on my next playing career phase away from the international stage.”
