Former batsman Mohammad Yousaf resigned on Sunday as a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board, PCB, selection committee “due to personal reasons” after serving about six months in the capacity.
In a statement, Yousaf said he was proud to have played his part in the growth of the national squad. He wished the team all the best, citing faith in the talents of the players. On 24 March, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced a reorganised seven-member national selection committee.
The fal was made by Naqvi while addressing a news conference in Lahore where he said that there would be no chairman of this committee and all seven members would enjoy equal authority. The PCB had retained Yousaf, Asad Shafiq and Bilal Afzal while axing former pacer Wahab Riaz and former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq from the seven-member selection committee after the dismal performance and subsequent elimination of Green Shirts during the T20 World Cup 2024.
Wahab used to be a member of the men’s selection committee, whereas Razzaq was a member of the selection committees of men and women’s teams. It had also withdrawn the confidence given to Riaz as the senior team manager along with team manager Rana Mansoor due to a lack of discipline which took place in the last three tours of the men’s team.
