Harmanpreet Kaur becomes captain for India’s Sri Lanka tour

Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain of the Indian women’s one-day international team as of June 23. They will be going to Sri Lanka. Therefore, the choice was made after Mithali Raj announced on Wednesday that she was leaving the team. Even though her career was over, Mithali had the most successful one-day international career ever, scoring 7850 runs in 231 games. She was also on the Indian national team and played in 12 Tests and 89 T20 Internationals. It will be the end of a long and successful career that began when she first played for India abroad in 1999. Mithali has played 89 Twenty20 Internationals, 232 One-Day Internationals, and 12 Tests for India.

BCCI said, “The All-India Women’s Selection Committee met on Wednesday to pick the squads for India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. India will play three T20Is beginning June 23rd and as many ODIs in Dambulla and Kandy respectively”.
