Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh took a swipe at Pakistan after India won a position in the final of the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
He reminded Pakistan that they would not be hosting the title clash, since India had sealed their position in the summit showdown. March 9 in Dubai will see the Champions Trophy final take place. India has participated all of its games at neutral locations since it was decided that, should the team go past the group level, India’s semi-final and final would be relocated from Pakistan.
Harbhajan posted X in Hindi saying, “First, Pakistan went out of the competition. And right now, Pakistan is the finalist out of all.
It is relevant to note that notwithstanding being the hosts, the Men in Green’s performance in the Champions Trophy was nothing more than a letdown since they became the first team eliminated from the competition.
First against New Zealand in the tournament opener on February 19 in Karachi and then against arch-rivals India on February 23 in Dubai Pakistan suffered consecutive losses.
The Rizwan-led side ended their campaign without winning after their last group-stage game against Bangladesh on February 27 in Rawalpindi was canceled due of weather.
On the other side, India met Australia in the semi-final on March 4, where Kohli once more excelled with the bat, scoring 84 runs to help the Men in Blue to success.
Currently being staged in Lahore, the Men in Blue will now play the second semi-final winner between New Zealand and South Africa.
