Former Cricketer Recalls India’s Dubai Disasters

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed “horrible feelings” over India’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy matches due to the team’s historical problems in Dubai. India will play in Group A in the 2025 Champions Trophy with Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.

India will play Bangladesh on February 20, Pakistan on February 23, and New Zealand on March 2, 2025.

Chopra recently posted a video on YouTube recalling India’s 2021 T20 World Cup losses to Pakistan and New Zealand in Dubai.

He said, “You get a horrible feeling — Pakistan and New Zealand in our group with the matches in Dubai because the chances of it happening there are the highest.” In the last ICC competition, this was bad. We were devastated.”

Despite this, the 47-year-old is hopeful about India’s 50-over chances.

This is ODI, not T20. We’ll take UAE ODIs. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play there. Jasprit Bumrah will be there, and we understand the ODI formula. So we should qualify from our group.”

According to the probable schedule, Pakistan will play New Zealand in Karachi on February 19, 2025. The much-anticipated India-Pakistan match is on February 23, 2025, at Dubai.

The tournament final will be contested on March 9, 2025, either Lahore or a neutral city, depending on India’s qualification.
