Fatima Sana was chosen Pakistan’s Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 captain by the PCB on Sunday. The announcement came after the cricket governing body revealed the October event squad. The Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in the UAE starting October 3.

The political unrest in Bangladesh forced the event to be moved to the UAE. Sana will captain the team, the PCB said today. The bowling all-rounder replaced 112 ODI and 153 T20I veteran Nida Dar.
Fatima Sana will captain Pakistan at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE from 3 to 20 October. A press release from the PCB stated that the women’s national selection committee unanimously made the decision. Pakistan rising and local sides have been led by 22-year-old Fatima, who has played 41 ODIs and 40 T20Is. In December 2023, she captained Pakistan to a historic ODI Super Over win over New Zealand at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.”
Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana, Muneeba Ali, Nashra Sundhu, Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, and Tuba Hassan are retained from 2023, while uncapped left-arm pacer Tasmia Rubab enters the final 15. Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal is in the team pending fitness. The lone change from the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 squad is Sadaf Shams replacing Najiha Alvi.
