On Thursday, England beat West Indies by a margin of eight wickets in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 round. England successfully achieved their aim of 181 runs and comfortably won the match in just 17.3 overs at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, located in Gros Islet, St Lucia.
Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow formed an undefeated partnership of 97 runs in 44 balls for the third wicket, leading England to a crucial victory in their first match of the Super 8.
Salt scored an unbeaten 87 runs off 47 balls, hitting seven fours and five sixes. During his dynamic performance, he aggressively scored 30 runs off Romario Shepherd’s bowling in the 16th over.

Bairstow made a significant contribution by scoring 48 runs in 26 balls, including five fours and two sixes.
Andre Russell and Roston Chase each took one wicket for the West Indies, who had their initial loss in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Prior to this, the West Indies team scored 180 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in a span of 20 overs, following England’s decision to field first after winning the toss.
The West Indies team had a strong beginning, scoring 36 runs without losing any wickets in the first four overs, with Johnson Charles and Brandon King as the main batsmen.
Nevertheless, King was forced to leave the game due to a potential groyne injury after attempting a shot against Sam Curran in the fifth over of the match. He had accumulated a total of 23 runs by hitting the ball 13 times before leaving the field.
Charles accumulated a total of 38 runs in 34 balls, and in addition, he contributed 54 runs in 41 balls when batting alongside Nicholas Pooran, who had taken King’s spot on the field.
