Ahead of Tuesday’s game in Cardiff, the England squad announced that skipper Jos Buttler would miss their third Twenty20 International against Pakistan due to the birth of his third child.

After guiding England to a 23-run victory at Edgbaston on Saturday—which gave them a 1-0 lead in the four-match series after the washout of the first game in Leeds—Buttler has gone home to be with his wife.

“Jos Buttler is set to miss our third IT20 match vs Pakistan as his wife Louise is expecting the birth of their third child,” England Cricket said.

While Buttler is away, all-rounder Moeen Ali will lead England. Whether Buttler will be back in time to play in Thursday’s series finale at The Oval was not stated by the squad.

In the second Twenty20 International, Buttler, 33, played a captain’s knock and, with the aid of eight fours and three sixes, scored 84 runs on 51 balls. He became only the ninth player in the shorter format to score 3,000 runs in Twenty20 International cricket throughout the process.

About the weather in Cardiff after Leeds, it is now raining sporadically, but it should clear up two hours before the evening game.

Pakistan has to make a big recovery in today’s game, or they risk losing the series.

For the pivotal game today, Pakistan may make two changes to their lineup. All-rounders Shadab Khan and Saim Ayub are probably going to be omitted, while Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, or Naseem Shah may be added in their place.
