When Daren Sammy was awarded the civil honour “Sitara-e-Pakistan” on Monday, he recognised his contribution to bringing international cricket back to Pakistan. Thus, it was a fitting tribute. The renowned athlete shared photos of receiving the country’s highest civilian honour on his official Twitter account. This is me accepting the Sitara-e-Pakistan award, as you can see,” the speaker stated. It was a “glorious moment in our history,” he added. Also, on his official Instagram account, he posted a photo gallery showing him playing cricket in some of the world’s most exotic locales.
Expressing his love for Pakistan, Sammy said: “Plus, Pakistan is like home to me and this is an honour for me. I am very proud.”
“Pakistan is definitely one of these places. Also, a place that always makes me feel at home. It’s such an honour to have received this prestigious award (Sitara-e-Pakistan) from the government and people of Pakistan. Thank you. #PakistanZindabad,” he wrote.
