All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be vice-captain for the Bangladesh side in the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which stated on Thursday.
Mehidy, 27, has amassed 103 ODI caps and lately led the team on their West Indies trip substituting the regular skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was out due to injury. Additionally confirmed by the BCB are the joining of the squad for training in Dubai pacers Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed.
” Pacers Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed will fly to Dubai on Saturday to practise with the Bangladesh Champions Trophy team. Following Bangladesh’s debut tournament encounter against India in Dubai on February 20, the bowlers will head back home, the BCB announced in a statement.
It is crucial to note that Bangladesh has joined Group A with India, Pakistan, and New Zealand. Their first game in Dubai on February 20 will against India.
Seeking a place in the knockout stages, they will then go to Rawalpindi for vital meetings against New Zealand on February 24 and hosts Pakistan on February 27.
