Bismah Khan and Jehanara Nabi make the Islamic Solidarity Games 100m freestyle final
In the women’s 100-metre freestyle event at the Islamic Solidarity Games, Pakistan’s Bismah Khan and Jehanara Nabi have advanced to the final. Pakistani swimmers placed in the top eight in their Sunday night semi-final heat. In a time of 1:02.11, 20-year-old Jehanara placed seventh, and 17-year-old Bismah, who qualified in a time of 1:02.59, placed eighth.
Jehanara completed the 100 metres in 1 minute and 2.47 seconds during the preliminary heat, while Bismah crossed the line in 1 minute and 3.19 seconds. The championship match will be played on Monday at 8:03 p.m. local time in Pakistan. Bismah and Jehanara competed for Pakistan in the Women’s 4x200m Freestyle relay at the 2017 Fourth Islamic Games in Baku, where they brought the bronze medal. But this isn’t Pakistan’s first appearance in a swimming final at the Olympics. While Fatima Adnan Lotia made it to the women’s 100-meter backstroke finals, she swam slowly and came in last, clocking in at 1:19.08.
