Basit Ali criticizes ICC for keeping Babar Azam as No.1 ODI batter
Former cricketer Basit Ali criticized the ICC for the current ODI batters rankings after Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam kept the top spot. Azam, 29, topped the list with 824 rating points, followed by Indian trio Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli. The former cricketer disagreed with the recent ODI rankings and regretted that Travis Head and Rachin Ravindra are not in the top ten.
Gill, struggling with form, was also criticized. Rankings by whom? He slammed the cricketing organization, asking why Babar Azam and Shubman Gill are there and why the ICC doesn’t want them to play. According to him, the ODI World Cup 2023 featured Rachin Ravindra, Quinton de Kock, Travis Head, and Virat Kohli. Ali said they scored three to four hundreds in the event but are not ranked higher.
Both Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman achieved centuries for Pakistan. Babar Azam never scored 100. He struck his last Asia Cup century against Nepal. What ranking does ICC give? “ICC employees hate Babar Azam. Babar would also choose Travis Head or Virat Kohli as the number one. He wouldn’t declare he’s number one “concluded.
