On Sunday, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam smashed another milestone when he surpassed India’s Virat Kohli by 2,000 runs to become the fastest Asian batsman to achieve 10,000 runs in international cricket. Babar attained the milestone during Pakistan’s first Test match against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium. Compared to Kohli’s 232 innings, the leading ODI and T20I batsman need only 228.
And in just 247 innings, he surpassed the record set by Pakistan’s greatest batsman of all time, Javed Miandad, for most runs scored in international cricket. He became the eleventh Pakistani batsman to surpass 10,000 runs in international play with this achievement. Due to his consistency, Babar is ranked #1 in T20I and ODI batting and fourth in Test batting.
