Australia defeated West Indies by 55 runs in the 14th World Championship of Legends 2024 match at the County Ground in Northampton on Wednesday to go ahead of Pakistan. Australia has topped Pakistan in points due to a greater Net Run Rate. After winning the toss, West Indies bowled first, but Australia scored 274/7 in 20 overs.
Ben Duck scored a 35-ball 100 while Daniel Christian missed his century by one run. Dunk blasted 12 fours and 7 sixes in his innings, while Christian hit 11 and 8. West Indies chased, but the required run rate continued rising, ending at 219/6. Dwayne Smith scored 64 off 40 balls and Ashley Nurse 70 off 36. Backend captain Daren Sammy 18-ball 33.
Best bowler was Aussie skipper Brett Lee, who took 2/30. West Indies helped India qualify for the semi-finals with this loss, but their destiny depends on whether India beat South Africa in the penultimate league game or improve their run rate with a large win over India. Australia and Pakistan pre-qualified for the semis.
