During Pakistan’s game against India for the Asia Cup 2022, wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan landed awkwardly on his knee and was taken for an MRI scan. After receiving Rizwan’s report, the medical staff will decide if he can continue playing in the tournament. Espncricinfo claims that Pakistan does not have a dedicated wicketkeeper in their lineup.
Although Khushdil Shah and Fakhar Zaman are competent in Rizwan’s absence, they are not experts in the field. Mohammad Haris, who travelled to the Netherlands with the team, is a potential backup. Haris, however, is not included in the team that will represent the Asia region in the upcoming tournament. Haris would have to be flown to Dubai as a replacement for Rizwan if the latter could not play. On Wednesday, September 7 (a week from today), Pakistan and Afghanistan will face off in Sharjah.
