Pakistan’s interim head coach, Aqib Javed, blamed the fast bowlers’ underperformance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Aqib blamed Pakistan’s losses to India on a lack of bowling pressure at a media briefing in Lahore on Tuesday.
“Karachi and Dubai have the most reverse swing, but our bowlers couldn’t do it. “I told Haris Rauf and Shaheen to work on their skills,” Aaqib stated. We always defeated India by taking wickets and exerting pressure. He said this team could win India but was overwhelmed by the strain.
The former bowler said Pakistan’s losses to India in the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy had fueled criticism of the squad and players.
“Playing India is never easy. He stated the game is always stressful and difficult for newcomers.
I appreciate your pain and sorrow at our loss, but you can’t judge a person or team by one or two series. Be more consistent and patient “He added. He said Pakistan had shown promise by winning ODI series in Australia and South Africa before the Champions Trophy.
“But our selections didn’t go as planned and New Zealand and India were more balanced and confident,” he remarked.
The 52-year-old also said why the team is trying a different method to create fearlessness after dropping Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for the T20I series against different Zealand.
“We are working on having 70% separate T20 squads like other teams before the Asia Cup and World T20 Cup. He said our players must play brave cricket.
Despite hosting the Champions Trophy, the Men in Green were the first team eliminated. Pakistan lost to New Zealand in the tournament opener in Karachi on February 19 and archrivals India in Dubai on February 23.
After weather canceled their final group-stage encounter against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on February 27, Rizwan’s team finished winless.
