The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed former cricketer Salman Butt only to fire him within 24 hours. After Salman Butt scandal, Wasim Akram tells PCB to stick to decisions. Akram criticized the cricket board on X for reversing its Butt firing decision: “So, Don’t hold press discussions every three minutes. Maintain your choice.” Also, Butt was sentenced to 30 months in prison and banned for 10 years for conspiring to bowl deliberate no-balls in a 2010 Lord’s Test match against England.

Chief selector Wahab Riaz informed the former captain that he would not be part of his team. However, the PCB reversed its earlier decision on the instructions of caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. As, he said the selection committee must be free from controversy and that “well-reputed” and “non-controversial” selectors should be appointed. When discussing new officials, the Sultan of Swing stressed the importance of giving them time to prove themselves.
“Give them one year […] Mohammad Hafeez is director of cricket and coach, Riaz is chief selector, Kamran Akmal and co. Give them time—it’s their turn.”
Akram also wished Pakistan good luck in their Test series against Australia.
The Green Shirts, who haven’t won in Australia in nearly 30 years, will face the Aussies in a three-match test series.
